piCorePlayer Jivelite with Japanese and Chinese Characters

My piCorePlayer is a RPI 3B+ with 7" touchscreen piCoreplayer 5.0 installed.

I have considerable number of song files tagged in Japanese and Chinese characters, which default font cannot display correctly.
How do change or add Japanese and Chinese fonts.

I have tried with Moode Player, I am able to use this command to installed Asian fonts.

sudo apt-get install ttf-kochi-gothic xfonts-intl-japanese xfonts-intl-japanese-big xfonts-kaname fonts-unfonts-core xfonts-intl-chinese fonts-arphic-uming

I think the piCorePlayer file system is different and not able to use "apt-get" to install those fonts.

Anyone able to get them to work.

Thanks

Hello,

I cannot connect my squeezeboxtouch to mysqueezebox.com !
When I do a factory reset it works as long as I do not use another collection - for example my NAS !
In LMS it says my username/password is not correct but I check them 20 times. In mysqueezebox.com my squeezebox touch is marked "not connected"

Has someone any idea to help me ?
Thank you in advance

SB Radio will not stay online

Suddenly when radio is at rest, my SBRadio stays online for only a short period. Previously the digital clock would be displayed always, but it now displays for only a short time and then the radio goes offline. Is there a setting that I may have accidentally changed to cause this behavior or perhaps do I need a new power cable?
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

one particular Player not found - tried reset router LMS reinstalled player FW

Hi all.

Just installed Volumio and Squeezelite on my Pi3+ today.

However, after I've activated squeezelite plugin on Volumio, I still don't see my Pi in LMS(installed on my Synology NAS), nor in iPeng.

In contrast, I have a Logitech Transporter and it has always been recognised by LMS no problem.

I tried installing Squeezelite-X on my PC and it is working fine as a player as well.

So the only thing doesn't get recognised in LMS is my Pi3+ running Volumio, with squeezelite installed.

I've tried restarting LMS, Restarting the NAS, doing a factory reset on my router...No luck.

I then tried to install moode (with built-in squeezelite), no luck.

What's interesting is, months ago, when I just got the Pi, it was working...And I don't think I've changed any setting.

Has anyone encountered the same issue before?

Alexa to LMS

Hello!

I would like to bring the music output of my Echo Dot2 to the LMS to stream into the players.

My system:
Ubuntu homeserver
6 USB sound cards
6 squeezelite instances on the homeserver for each room
Alexa connected to the mic-front connector

Unfortunately, trying with Wavein always failed at Pulseaudio, every time I remove Pulseaudio, the system becomes unstable.

Has anyone ever done this and can give me a short and easy instruction?

The control by Alexa would be nice too, but getting the sound in LMS would also be a great thing!

THANK YOU

If native playback fails try playing transcoded version first before aborting - how?

Hi.

This problem concerns ALAC and AAC music files (so far). Every now and then LMS comes across such a file and won't play it on devices that support native playback of AAC/ALAC files = Slim::Player::Squeezebox2::statHandler (150) Error:... Decoder does not support file format, code 0
They play fine when transcoded, like on a Boom, and on all other non-LMS devices. Since I have no way of finding all files that produce this error (and even if, fixing them has failed so far), I thought:

is it (already) possible to create some kind of playback failsafe, like: if there's a "Decoder does not support file format, code 0" error for a file that qualifies for native playback on a device, let's try playing a transcoded version first and only if that fails as well abort with an error?

Thank you.

mySB.com/Duet/Poor ISP, what to address first?

Forgive me for the lack of details at this point because I am getting info on this "issue" second hand. I'll try my best to get details as needed.

With my abundance of SB devices, I gave a duet system to a friend, who knows nothing about SB's.

I set him up with mysb.com just to get internet radio playing, including pandora via mysb.com. Via WiFi BTW. He really doesn't have a digital music library, just alot of CD's, but eventually would like to rip and have one.

What happens, I'm told, that the duet just stops, and he can't get it playing again. I have instucted him over the phone how to reset the receiver (press hold = fast red blink) and receiver (either via menu or power/+), and that gets him up and going for a while.

I had leaned him a boom a while back and he said that would hang up as well. Again, I have not seen it.

So, my questions on how to move forward:

1) Is the mysb.com "server" either legacy or significantly inferior to the latest LMS? I ask because I know that Michael and others have put alot into making LMS what it is today. If this might be a solution, I'll get him to install LMS on a computer, and eventually make a picore for him.
2) His ISP, ADSL, is pretty troublesome as it is in a remote area with old legacy wiring. Is there a network event that could be triggering the freeze?
3) I have had duets run and run and run in the past, but did have a receiver that was on the fringe of wifi range that I had all sorts of rebuffering issues. Could it be that the duet is a poor choice for an inexperienced user?

If I had to guess, I would say to try LMS first, but I'm wondering what other thoughts might be out there.

Thanks for your thoughts...

Jim

Startup behaviour

My bedroom SBT is powered on by a mains timer. It then should start playing radio 4 via the alarm clock feature an hour or so later. It has now started playing what it was playing when it went to sleep (usually radio paradise). Is this something I can control and why has the behaviour changed. I just want it to be silent on power on.

New server - quieter streams?

$

About 4 months ago I switched from a windows server to a dedicated linux box running Vortexbox 2.5.

However, I've noticed across the board the volume levels of the streams are lower than before. This is specifically causing issues for my sons bedroom where a 2x 50w amp running 4 speakers is now too quiet at maximum volume.

Does anyone know why this would be happening? Any suggestions on solutions or workarounds for that one room?

Customize WebGui of LMS (Or: Adding folders to favorites)

Is there an option to customize the WebGUI or to use another web gui? I practically do everything by folders instead of mp3-tags so it would ne nice to have certain directories directly accessible via webGUI and there on top of it.

Another option would be to at least add directories to the favorite section which seems not possible.

Finally Sold My Treasured Squeezebox Setup :(

Well, I have been hanging on for quite a while now... And I had a LOT invested in the Squeezebox platform...

But sadly, it was time for me to part with my treasured Squeezeboxes... :( Truth be told, I decommissioned my Squeezebox setup years ago, and this hardware was just sitting around collecting dust and losing value.

For those of you who are curious on what I was able to get for my Squeezeboxes in the open market, I will share with you what I was able to cost recover through eBay.

  • SqueezeBox Boom #1 - $100.00
  • SqueezeBox Boom #2 - $100.00
  • SqueezeBox Boom #3 - $85.00
  • SqueezeBox Boom #4 - $102.00
  • SqueezeBox Boom #5 - $90.00
  • Squeezebox Duet (Receiver/Remote Combo) #1 - $160.00
  • SqueezeBox Duet (Receiver/Remote Combo) #2 - $160.00
  • SqueezeBox Receiver (Extra for Duet Setup) - $70.00
  • SqueezeBox Boom Remote (New Spare) - $25.00

All of the above selling prices are "shipped" prices, so they all need to be reduced to consider eBay Fees (10%), PayPal Fees (2.5%), and shipping. The duets cost me around $14.00 to ship, and the Booms cost me around $20.00 to ship.

Good luck to everyone... I enjoyed my Squeezebox set-up, but unfortunately, it is just time to move on... :(

Making some natively unplayable MP4 files playable on Touch/Radio

Sounds reasonable. Could you please provide a pull request and a few
sample files I could play around with?

PiCorePlayer latency?

$

0
I still have a few SB3 running, augmented by a couple of RPI3 B+ with HiFiBerry and PiCorePlayer. The other day I was playing music in sync in three different zones that were all audible from the same location in the back yard. The two slightly more distant zones were PiCorePlayers. The closer zone is a SB3 into under-eave speakers.

There was notable difference in timing between the three zones. This manifest as a kind of delay. I could hear every snare drum hit echo'd, as if it was echoing off a far back wall.

Of course, I would not expect them to be perfectly in sync, since the speakers are at physically different locations. This was more delay than I expected.

This made me wonder if there's any adjustment for latency in PiCorePlayer?

I swapped out the SB3 for another RPi, and everything was then in sync. In all these years I'd never listened carefully to multiple zones, at the same time, where each was using different hardware.

Squeezebox server unable to open :9000 browser interface

Every couple of years, I go through a little dance to make LMS work on my Linux machine.

Currently, I am running LUBUNTU 19.04 and perl 5-28.

I have tried three of the later logitech media server releases, (current is 7.9.1) having been through perl compatibility issues in the past.
None of them changed anything.

LMS installs, the service says it starts, but I cannot see it in the browser.
I've been through the firewall help section, but when I checked, (I have LUBUNTU) it says the firewall is not active.

There are SO MANY old threads and suggestions, one can get lost when trying to find a solution.
Is there a guide that is still valid as to where I should begin troubleshooting this issue?
Things to test for?
Flow chart, perhaps?? (A valid one focused on this release, with current info?)

Disabled LMS webserver - Can I re-enable from CLI?

$

Evening all. Sorry about this, I've done something pretty silly.

My LMS webserver is not running, and does not start on LMS reload, either. LMS is running, is seen by all the players, serves music to them, etc. I'd like to re-enable the LMS webserver, but I don't know how to do that without the webserver itself.

When trying to set a network proxy in the Settings, Advanced page, I think I deleted the entry in the 'Port' field; am I right in thinking this has the effect of disabling the webserver?

I can obtain a command line on the serving machine (Debian); also the Telnet port 9090 is running. I've looked for the telnet control commands for LMS across the web, but those I find say to refer to the LMS help page, but I can't see how to find the help without that webserver running.

Is there a way I can start the webserver again - either from a Linux command line, or through the Telnet interface?

Grateful for any suggestions,

Atlantic

Hi !

I've just upgraded my server to Debian Buster and LMS doesn't start anymore.

Code:

perl -v
This is perl 5, version 28, subversion 1 (v5.28.1) built for i686-linux-gnu-thread-multi-64int

Seems that nightly build package miss the CPAN/arch/5.28/i386-linux-thread-multi-64int

Linux newbie and LMS installation

To all,

I have been a Windows user for a long time and was glad that Microsoft DOS was replaced; I always liked WXP and W7 since they did what was required and disliked W3/W95/W98/WM because they did not. But Microsoft continues to irritate me with messages indicating that W7 support will end at the beginning of 2020. I installed W10 on my 3 computers (netbook, notebook and desktop) but found that it is so bloated, because it is trying to serve the phone, tablet and computer users, that it is too slow; this is even true on my old home built desktop with an overclocked Intel Quad4, Gigabyte MB and 3 disk RAID0 array. So I backed up the working W10 files in the event that I am forced back to W10. But I want/need another OS that can be usable if W7 is no longer usable. Many years ago (15 or 20) I had tried Linux (version unknown) but found that it required too much dependence on the command window just like my last experiences with DOS6.2. But in my searching on the interweb it was suggested that Linux had improved so I tried a few Linux versions (Ubuntu and Mint were my favorites) and I finally have installed Mint! I installed it in a dual boot configuration with W7 on a separate partition with a swap file.

The first thing that I did with Mint was to make sure that it connected to my network for interweb access. I then downloaded the latest nightly .deb version for my Intel processor; I downloaded it to a Windows partition where I store uninstalled programs. I double clicked on the file and it took me to an installation window where it was indicated that it had been installed; I could not find an icon or folder/partition to set it up. After another search on the interweb I found out how to open the Web Control settings and was able to to most of what I needed. The main thing that I needed was to be able to access my Tunein stations on my SB2s which I could do. But I still have another problem that I cannot do. In Basic Setting I tried to browse to my AUD partiton (a Windows NTFS partition that contains my music, otr and audiobook files. I found that browsing took me to the Linux system files so I added the media file/folder/partition? but my SB2 did not see it; when I use the Mint file manager I am able to see the system files and can drill down to find my AUD files. More searching of the interweb and all I can find is that I must "mount" the partition and that must be done using the terminal command; oh my goodness I have flashbacks to having to use the DOS cmd window!!!!

Is there an easy way for me to access my AUD partition so that LMS can access it? If it needs for me to use the terminal function, unless it is very easy, then I will have to resign myself to using W7 until I can no longer use it. I am in my 70s with memory problems and just cannot go back to using a cmd window. It was a problem with me when I was young since I had no interest in OSs and just wanted to be able to use the programs that I needed to perform the functions required; AutoCAD, Solidworks, PCB and other software.

Any help would be appreciated,

Richard

What can I do without a LMS server?

I'm thinking of taking Squeezebox Boom down to a holiday house - where I don't have a system running LMS, but wondering what I'd actually be able to do.

I do have Internet access via a Broadband Hotspot, but no PC systems running LMS.

At home all my music and LMS is running on a Synology NAS box.

MySqueezebox connection seems restricted to Internet based music - not sure if Spotty for Spotify would work though as it relies on LMS.

Apart from firing up a Raspberry Pi to run LMS on with an external USB of music, any other ideas ?

There's no way to do a remote VPN Internet connection back to a home LMS? Probably too slow network anyway.

LMS in Docker on RPi

Looking at running LMS in Docker on an existing RPi that already has Libreelec installed.

I've got Docker installed and successfully runs Hello World.

Looking for the 'best' LMS RPi container. Which one is most widely used?

Then looking for some step-by-step guides for configuring the RPi and the Docker start commands for the LMS container to mount my music which will be shared via NFS off a NAS.

Any good guides out there? (I found lots for setting up Docker, but none on the LMS containers)

Thanks.

error message attempting to stream flac file

Hi. I run LMS on an Ubuntu 18.04 media server. It works fine when I stream to my Squeezebox.

Sometimes I want to stream to a desktop/laptop using VLC. Playing MP3 files is never a problem.

Playing flac files never works.

I've posted at the VLC forum; but wanted to post here as well the result from the LMS server log file when attempting to stream to a remote VLC player. It goes like this:

Code:

[19-07-13 12:02:31.9066] Slim::Player::Song::open (410) Error: Couldn't create command line for flc playback for [file:///mnt/MUSIC1.2/CDsAdded2019/CDsAddedJuly2019/David%20Crosby%20-%20Croz/11.%20Find%20A%20Heart%20-%20David%20Crosby%20-%20Croz.flac]

... again and again and again

The log/error messages from VLC are here: https://pastebin.com/GyyDwgZn

I tried this today on a Fedora 30 64-bit box running VLC 3.0.7.1 Vetinari trying to stream music from an Ubuntu media server 18.04 running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 - 1556111457.

It doesn't matter if I upgrade the LMS; this problem has been ongoing for more than a year.

I've asked the VLC people repeatedly and I mean REPEATEDLY if it's even possible to stream more than one file type (mp3 vs flac vs ogg etc) because, as far as I know, it's necessary to add the type of file you want to stream to the request entered into the VLC network streaming section.

So, something like, http://192.168.1.1:9000/stream.mp3

or

http://192.168.1.1:9000/stream.ogg

I asked if there is a *universal* command/string I could put here (ending in say stream.* or something) but ...

I can't get them to answer this simple question.

Because, really, I don't know if what I want to do is possible. And, if not, I'd really rather not waste everyone's time.

Thanks. Sorry for the mini-rant.
